Orphans Charity Drive

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  Today's post is just a quickie to share my submission to the orphan's charity drive that's being hosted by Marion Smith.  I'm including her YouTube video that describes the drive for the charity, Reece's Rainbow Adoption Ministry.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Used the Tim Holtz birdcage die, just modified it a bit to fit on the 4x4 square.

I molded the bird using Sculpey clay, baked it, painted it with acrylics and then glazed it.

I made all of the flowers as well using clay.

Ahhh, the long weekend is finally here.  I tried to post a couple of days ago, but could not log into my blog.  I actually sent an email to blogger to have my password reset, but it STILL didn't work.  Come to find out, I wasn't the only one having problems.  I finally am logged in and ready to post and sooo looking forward to the extra long weekend (taking Friday off and Monday's the holiday).

Today's project is a birthday gift for my Mom.  It's one of the balsa boxes from the dollar bin at Michael's with a matching card.  Well, actually, the card came first and then the box.  Paper used is the new Lemon Flower Stack from DCWV.  I love, love, love these papers!  Check out the necklace tucked inside the box. 

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day and please take a moment to remember all those that have and still are serving our wonderful country and also pray for those affected by the recent devastation in the mid-west.

I used a Martha Stewart punch, some Prima flowers and stick pins from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Sentiment and punch from Stampin' Up.

Flowers and skeleton leaves on the box from I Am Roses, some Prima bling, a Tim Holtz Word Stick and the little green roses I made with some Sculpey clay and a mold from The Mold Muse on Etsy.com.  I made the flower spray myself!

My Winnings from The Piece by Piece Design Challenge

Tonight I just want to quickly post my winnings I received from Beverly over at The Piece by Piece.  She asked that anyone that had purchased any of her items from her Etsy shop and had used them in a project, to post the project on her Facebook page and she would  pick 5 winners.  Well, I was one of the winners.  Below are some shots of the lovely laces, trims and flowers that I received.  One of the items I posted was my latest Captured Fairy , which uses some of her beautiful trim and flowers.  Make sure you check out her Etsy shop to see of the gorgeous items she has.  Have a great evening.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope you all had an enjoyable Mother's Day.  While I wait for our Chinese food to be delivered, I thought I would post my Mother's Day projects that I completed this year.  One project I completed was a toilet paper roll mini album for my daughter.  I know, toilet paper?, but you use the tubes from the empty rolls, flatten them out, cover them with gorgeous papers and you have a mini.  I took about 17 pictures, so instead of posting all of the pics, I added a slide show to make it easier to view the mini. 

As I mentioned, this is for my daughter, who is a "step-mom" to the little girl in the mini.  I challenged myself to make this  a quick project and was able to get it complet4ed in about 7 hours or so (over a couple of days).  I hand cut most of the embellies right from the paper line, which is from Graphic 45, so that contributed to most of the time.

I got the inspiration for the gift bag from Paper Crafts magazine and the template is available at the following: www.dianagibbs.typepad.com.  I colored the  digital image in with my copic and used my nestabilities for the square and scallop.

 

I totally "lifted" this card from Paper Craft Magazine too.  Not only did I love the card, but I literally had every element needed to make the card, even the exact button.  The designer was Susan R. Opel and the card was on page 49 of the May/June 2011 issue.

Another Fairy in a Bottle

Ahhh, another weekend has ended.  Why oh why do they go by so fast?  I hope you all enjoyed yours and are looking forward to the first week of May.  Tonight I'd like to share a project that I completed in March for a swap I had participated in over at a A Lil Scrap of Heaven site.  The first fairy bottle I posted a few months back was a dry run for this swap.  I enjoyed making this bottle and was nice to have a partner to swap with that chose colors and style, etc.  Have a good evening and will catch up with you all later in the week.

The lace around the top of the bottle is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The fabric flower on top of the bottle and the trim around the bottom is from The Piece by Piece a wonderful shop on Etsy.

The butterflies and bling around the sides of the bottle are from Prima.
