#30Inks30Days | Days Three and Four

In an effort to catch up with posting my progress (I’m currently caught up with my daily ink explorations), I’ll show two days per post until caught up.

Day three features one of my favorite Sailor Shikiori inks, “Shito-Shito.” I love the light teal or is it turquoise? I never quite know which it is, but nonetheless, the ink is lovely, and the shading is divine. The name “Shitoshito” (しとしと) translates to “silent and still,” referring to the quiet sound of spring rain falling on plants, which makes me love it even more!

Day Three

  • Pen Used:  Piper Trading Company, Second Empire
  • Ink Used:  Sailor Shikiori "Shito-Shito"
  • Zentange Pattern:  "Stepheart"  by Jules Mack, CZT

I used another favorite ink, along with my current favorite pen, for Day four. I’ve always preferred these lighter shades of brown, but they can sometimes be challenging to use with finer nibs. This pen performed exceptionally well, showcasing the ink’s beautiful shading qualities.

Day Four

  • Pen Used:  Aurora 88 Volterra
  • Ink Used:  Ferris Wheel Press "Oyster Hour"
  • Zentangle Pattern:  "Wing" by Alice Hendon, CZT

#30Inks30Days | Day Two

On the second day, I decided to use my 2025 Himekuri Sticky Calendar as a guide for my ink choice. This Kitty Inkpot ink is simply delightful, and the flexible nib on this Scribo fountain pen beautifully demonstrates its shading capabilities. The tangle for the day, “Flame Flower,” reminds me of a poinsettia, or at least that’s how I envisioned it. The weather has been consistently dreary and dark, so the photo reflects that. I hope my photography skills improve as I regain my momentum and start posting more frequently.

Day 2

  • Pen Used:  Scribo Feel Spiaggia Rosa
  • Ink:  Kitty Inkpot "A Certain Letter"
  • Zentangle Pattern:  "Flame Flower" by Deb Bowyer

#30Inks30Days | Day One

I am excited to participate in the 30Inks30Days challenge for the month of November. This provides me the opportunity to explore the inks I have amassed over the years. Additionally, it serves as a means to practice and enhance my cursive handwriting and explore the intricate art of Zentangling. I began this daily practice last month and have thoroughly enjoyed integrating these tangles with my passion for fountain pens and inks. I am most definitely a beginner with a focus on creating smaller tangles, I look forward to the day when I will have the opportunity to incorporate these individual patterns into a larger artistic composition.
  • Ink: Troublemaker "Abalone"
  • Pen Used: Pilot Custom 73 "Lavender Fog"
  • Zentangle Pattern: Doo Dah by Zentangle
